Other Pictures of Maddie (click to see larger version):Maddie was rescued from a very small Dallas area shelter after being found stray. She had a microchip and when the shelter reached out to her owner Maddie’s family claimed to not know her even though a second contact on the file confirmed the owner’s identity. It was very sad to think that she was unwanted. Maddie was skittish and hand shy when she arrived at her foster home. It was evident that she had not always been treated well but with time and patience she is learning to trust again. She now enjoys meeting new people and loves being petted. Maddie is house trained and uses a doggy door. She doesn’t particularly like being crated. We suspect that she may have spent too much time being locked away in her previous home. She isn’t destructive and hasn’t required crating while being in foster care. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. She enjoys attention from older, gentle children. We aren’t sure how she does with cats. Even though Maddie is considered a senior she loves to run and would appreciate a yard with room to stretch her legs. She is very healthy and has the energy of a younger dog without being hyper. Maddie will find a dog bed when she is ready to sleep. She is not comfortable being on furniture or on the big bed so it is likely she was not allowed in her former home. Maddie is somewhat vocal and will answer when you talk to her so she may not be the best suited for a home with shared walls. Since Maddie wasn’t cherished by her former family, we are hoping to find her a new family that can help her to forget any past mistreatment. Maddie may take a little time to warm up when arriving in a new home, but we know that the love she will give will make it all worthwhile.
