Copper was found starving, covered in ticks, and somehow still trusting enough to come to the person who found her. He and his wife already had a Dachshund, adopted years ago from Dachshund Lovers of Texas, so naturally when they couldn't find the new girl's owner they contacted us. We took her in while he acted as foster and nursed her to health. We got her vetting and heartworm treatment taken care of while Copper, as she was now called, became more and more a member of his family. Needless to say, she was a natural "foster failure" and would never need to look for her forever home- she had already found it!
