Jack-Jack's Sponsorship Page
Jack-Jack came to us with some neurological deficits that affect his behavior and metabolism. He is naturally hyperactive and hyper-alert to all sounds and movements in. his range. Jack-Jack has a lot of difficulty relaxing and settling down, and he also has a great deal of difficulty learning house training despite a long patient and positive attempt and helping him master that skill. He has a hard time with change, and he tends to become very vocal and difficult to redirect once he gets agitated. Jack-Jack is not a mean dog, but he definitely has some psychological needs that require a firm but patient owner, a predictable environment, and a routine that helps Jax become comfortable. Through long-term care and patience on everyone's part, Jack-Jack has learned how to function (as best as he can) in his foster home. He still is easily triggered by sensory input, and he works at trying to deal with his unpredictable hyperactivity and weak social skills. Despite all of his deficits, Jack does enjoy life, just on his own terms and as limited by his basic nature. Jack-Jack needs regular monitoring and vet checks, including blood work so we can be sure to distinguish his status and to tell the strictly behavioral issues from those that appear to be based more on his. physical and neurological condition.
