Oscar Mayer is s small senior Dachshund who came to us with some neurological deficits that affect his behavior. He is hyper-alert to his surroundings and becomes easily agitated as a result. He is very vocal when he is insecure, and that is also related to his difficulty screening sensory input. Oscar Mayer has learned to manage his foster home environment but has never truly overcome his tendency toward anxiety and sensory overload in unfamiliar situations. Oscar Mayer has become a bit more unpredictable now that he is aging, and that is most likely also a function of his neurological deficits. He will need regular checkups and monitoring so we can best address his status and keep him as happy as possible in his foster home as a sanctuary dog.
